A REAL PUB – unspoilt by progress..

Lincoln’s Tap and Spile is a proper town tavern on Hungate, just off the top of the High Street before the climb up Steep Hill. Terry, the Landlord and his partner Selena have a passion for real ale and live music.

The Tap will remain true to its roots with live music scheduled every Friday night,  most Saturdays, and some Wednesdays and Thursdays - check our Live Music Dates so you do not miss out! 

Once a month we have a Reggae night on the first Saturday.  On a Sunday teatime, local musicians usually congregate for a jam session before the General Knowledge Quiz - starting at 9pm.  There is an Irish Folk Jam Session every 3rd Sunday each month at 2pm. 

There’s a Music Quiz on the second Wednesday of each month, which is hosted by Rik Bell, beer tokens can be won as well as prizes.  The pub is also the ‘home' of circular chess.

The customer base is very diverse across all age and occupation ranges.  Terry & Selena welcome accompanied children and dogs to the pub, crayons & colouring books are available for the children and bowls of water for dogs. 

The constantly changing range of six to eight well-kept cask conditioned ales includes many guests from local microbreweries and independents as well as the big names. All Cask Marque accredited for quality.  We have been featured in the Good Beer Guide for the last 5 years, and  the only pub recommended in Lincoln in the Independent Newspaper, earlier this year.

There is a heated shelter for smokers in the beer garden. 

As the big chains and government continue to destroy the British pub tradition, the Tap and Spile just gets better.
